STATUS holds a huge range of information on legislation.
This includes:
- Complete sets of EC Directives and ECE Regulations;
- Construction and Use, Lighting and PSV Regulations;
- MOT and SVA requirements and sections of overseas legislation from countries such as Australia, USA, Japan, Germany and Ireland.
We also have access to a range of BSI and ISO standards and
codes of practice. These may be required to meet customer
specification, to CE mark products or simply to maintain a
company’s quality system. STATUS can search for standards
on behalf of a member.
Type Approval
STATUS offers a service for guiding vehicle manufacturers/converters
through Type Approval. This is normally UK Low Volume Type Approval
(UKLVTA) but we can also accommodate those who wish to undertake
European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EWVTA). STATUS activities
include compiling information documents, arranging tests and attending
all necessary VCA meetings.
Government Representations
STATUS is continually involved on behalf of its members in lobbying
government departments, contributing to consultation documents and
influencing legislation. The most recent example was the intervention
by STATUS in the introduction of legislation by the VI for M2/M3
vehicles requiring a Certificate of Initial Fitness (COIF). This
resulted in a delay in the implementation of the legislation and an
interim visual inspection procedure, intended to reduce the impact.
Expert Witness Service
We are available to compile reports and to appear in court in the
capacity of expert witnesses in many areas including vehicle safety
issues.
Services For Local Authorities And NHS Trusts
We have been involved with a number of Local Authority and NHS
Trusts offering advice and guidance in areas such as Taxi Licensing,
vehicle inspections and LPG conversions.
